Five million downloads, forums popping up everywhere and blog posts about this podcast is astonishing. SERIAL, a podcast narrated by Sarah Koenig has become a phenomenon. A murder case that happened back in 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland is revived due to the podcast. Adnan Syed, now convicted and serving time at a Maryland Corrections prison is interviewed multiple times in the podcasts.
Renewed interests in the case had been generated because of how the podcast is being narrated and with the interviews that occurred throughout. There were re-makings of the scenes to make sure that the timing laid out by the state was accurate or not, or if the main witness’ accounts are true or not.
The murder timeline would have occurred within a 21-minute window that could have or have not been enough time for the murder to happen.
Cell phone technology, accounts on interviews and other people associated through the trial are challenged in the podcasts.
Once you start listening, you will want to find out what really happened.
Listen now before the finale next week.
Serial – The podcast:
Almost everyone describes the 17-year-old Adnan the same way: good kid, helpful at the mosque, respectful to his elders. But a couple of months ago, Sarah started getting phone calls from people who knew Adnan back then, and told her stories of a different kind of boy.
