This has been a tumultuous year for the entertainment industry. We’ve lost some of our greatest talent that ever lived. We had Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Adam Yauch…and now, Robin Gibbs. These people are pioneers in their own right and we mourn the loss of these talents.
Robin Gibbs was the original lead singer of the iconic band that traversed a wide range of musical styles and soared to stardom in the 1970s with hits from the soundtrack to the movie Saturday Night Fever.
Gibb also had a solo career before the band’s commercial success. He had a No. 2 hit in 1969 in the United Kingdom with “Saved By The Bell.” Twenty years later he incorporated a rap segment into “Please,” a hit in England.
The Bee Gees were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
Rest in peace Robin.
